What you'll learn

In this session, Kylie — one of our Driver Trained Occupational Therapists — explains how neurological processing differences can make it harder for some autistic teens to quickly tell left from right while driving.

You’ll learn why this happens, how it shows up during lessons, and practical ways to build your teen’s awareness and confidence. Kylie shares simple, everyday strategies you can try at home — from visual cues and body-awareness games to calm communication tips for driving practice.

You’ll also discover how to create a supportive learning environment that reduces stress, celebrates small wins, and recognises progress at every stage.

Because every learner is different, and every step forward — no matter how small — brings your teen closer to safe and confident mobility.
