What you'll learn

In this session, you’ll learn how to progressively develop working memory, attention, and executive functioning through structured multi-step direction tasks. Starting with simple 2-step commands and building up to complex, distraction-based scenarios, this activity helps simulate the cognitive demands of real driving. You’ll be guided on how to set up safe, practical exercises at home that improve your child’s ability to listen, process, and act on verbal instructions in sequence just like they’ll need to do with a driving instructor. The focus is on identifying current skill level, building consistency, and knowing when to increase complexity or report back to your OT.
