What you'll learn

This session explores how cognitive fusion—being “hooked” by unhelpful thoughts—can impact your teen’s driving confidence, particularly for neurodivergent learners. Brad explains how cognitive defusion techniques can shift rigid thinking patterns, reduce anxiety, and help your learner stay calm and focused behind the wheel. You’ll learn practical scripts, metaphors (like “parking a thought”), and visual strategies that support resilience and progress. You’ll also gain access to useful downloadable resources, including a thought diary, reaction tracking worksheet, and a parent-friendly diffusion guide—tools to support your learner before, during, and after driving sessions.
