Driving Safely During Peak Hours

Peak hour traffic can be one of the biggest stressors for both new drivers and parents. In this lesson, Brad shows you how to manage busy conditions safely, calmly, and confidently.

What you'll learn

In this session, Brad demonstrates practical strategies for handling peak hour traffic — a situation that can feel overwhelming, especially for neurodivergent drivers. You’ll learn why maintaining a three-second following distance, reading beyond the car in front, and allowing safe gaps for others to merge helps reduce stress and prevent overreaction.

Brad also explains how a “bubble of safety” in front of the car can protect against tailgaters and how proactive driving—rather than reactive driving—supports focus, lowers anxiety, and builds long-term driving confidence.

This lesson helps parents understand how to coach their teen to stay calm under pressure, predict traffic flow, and manage sensory or attention challenges during busy times. The goal is simple: arrive home safely, calmly, and confident in their growing skills.
