One team.

A clearer pathway back to driving and mobility.

When injury changes the way someone drives, moves or manages everyday life, working out what happens next can become complicated.

Williams OT helps claims managers, service planners, rehabilitation consultants and treating teams navigate driving, vehicle modification, wheelchair, seating and home modification needs.

A significant injury can create a chain of questions.

Can they return to driving?

Do they require rehabilitation?

Will their vehicle need modification?

How will they transport their wheelchair?

Is their wheelchair still appropriate?

Does their home environment support their changing needs?

And who needs to coordinate all of this?

You don’t need to solve all of those questions before referring. Williams OT can help turn them into a clear assessment and rehabilitation pathway.

Driving assessment and rehabilitation has been at the centre of Williams OT since 2011.

Williams OT has focused on helping people gain, regain and maintain mobility through driving since the organisation was established in 2011.

Our driving pathway can extend from occupational therapy driver assessment through rehabilitation and modified driving instruction to vehicle modification assessment, equipment trials and implementation.

For the referrer, that can mean fewer handovers, clearer communication and greater continuity across the person’s driving and mobility pathway.

Here is our three step plan:

STEP 1

We assess

We assess the person’s driving and mobility needs, trial equipment where appropriate, and provide clear recommendations and reporting.

STEP 2

We implement the pathway

Where appropriate and approved, we coordinate rehabilitation, equipment trials and the vehicle modification pathway.

STEP 3

We support the next step

We support the person to work towards safe driving, or identify an alternative mobility pathway where driving is not appropriate.

One referral.

One coordinated mobility pathway.

Complex injury cases already involve enough moving parts.

Our aim is to reduce unnecessary handovers and make the mobility pathway easier to manage for the referrer, client and treating team.

Where a person’s needs cross driving, vehicle modification, wheelchair and seating, or home access, Williams OT can coordinate services within the one organisation and keep the relevant parties informed as the pathway progresses.

  • Clear communication – You know where the referral is up to.
  • Appropriate triage – Not sure what assessment is required? Start with our team.
  • Continuity –Where appropriate, the same organisation can remain involved from assessment through rehabilitation and implementation.
  • Practical recommendations – Recommendations are developed around the person’s function, environment and mobility requirements.
